This wednesday, February 11th, the Club Nàutic Costa Brava will be the epicenter of international base sailing with the celebration of the 36th International Palamós Optimist Trophy, one of the most iconic regattas of the youth calendar. The event will gather 356 sailors coming from 23 countries in the port of Palamós.

YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The regatta will have a highlighted Balearic presence, with 16 young sailors from clubs of the islands, highlighting once more the weight and nautical projection of the Balearic Islands in international competitions. The balearic sailors are from the Club Nàutic s’Arenal, the Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, the Club Nàutic s’Estanyol, the Reial Club Nàutic del Port de Pollença and the Club Marítimo de Mahón.
For five days, Palamós will turn into a meeting spot for young promises of the Optimist classm combining sports competition, training and educational activities. The program will kick off on February 11th with inscription sessions, scholar visits and the opening ceremony. The races in water will start on February 12th, with metheorological and coaches reunions before every session.
The competition is organized by the Club Nàutic Costa Brava, and will take place under the authorization of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and the Balearic Sailing Federation, following the current Sailing Regatta Rules (RRS). The regattas area will be located in the beach of Palamós, alongside the club's facilities. In addition, 12 races are programmed, with a maximum of three races per day, except necessary adjustments to balance fleets.
In addition to the qualifying races, the event includes an educational program for schools, sessions of IMOCA Sailing (BCN Capital Nàutica) and warm food for participants after the regattas, reinforcing the training and social nature of the trophy.
The Palamós Optimist Trophy will end of February 15th with the ceremony awards, adding the final touch to an edition that consolidated once against this regatta as a world reference one and offers Balearic sailors a new opportunity to compete against the international elite of the category.
