The Real Club Náutico de Palma team delivered an outstanding performance at the ORC A2 European Championship (two-person crews), held from last Tuesday to Saturday, March 7, as part of the 200 Millas A2 organized by Club Náutico de Altea. The Mallorcan squad returns home with two European runner-up finishes and one third place, in addition to winning the overall classification of the 200-mile offshore race.

In Class A, Fórmula X, sailed by Rodrigo Sanz and David Madrazo, claimed the European runner-up title after finishing 6th and 3rd in the two races of the championship program. In Class B, Azuree, sailed by Eduardo Horrach and Andreu Juan, also secured the European silver medal thanks to a fourth place in the short offshore race and second in the long race.

The club’s third European podium came in Class C, where Yabadaba Too, helmed by Martín Aizcorbe and Joan Freixes, took the bronze medal with results of 4th and 6th. In the same class, Mestral Fast, sailed by Jaime Morell and Pedro Siquier, which had initially led the standings after winning the opening coastal race, ultimately finished fourth after struggling in the 200-mile race.

Another notable result for the club was the victory of Blue Flag, sailed by Matías Gil and Joan Lladó, in the 200-mile offshore race. The Mallorcan crew recorded the best elapsed and corrected time in their class in the main race of the event, although they finished sixth overall in the European Championship standings after being unable to complete the opening race.

In the team classification, the trio formed by Azuree, Fórmula X and Yabadaba Too achieved second place overall.

The 200 Millas A2 race was marked by highly unstable weather conditions along the course between Altea, Ibiza and Formentera. Calm zones and shifting winds created significant gaps between boats that managed to escape the windless areas and those that became trapped in them.

Real Club Náutico de Palma was represented by eight teams. In Class A, Stargazer, sailed by Thomas Scherer, and Fórmula X competed; in Class B, Ava, sailed by Florian Burk, and Azuree; and in Class C, Yabadaba Too, Blue Flag, Mestral Fast and Formidable, sailed by Antoni Castell.
