Yesterday, Monday, August 18th, the starting gun for the 2025 European Optimist Championship by Teams was given with the inauguration ceremony. Organized by the Istanbul Yacht Club, the championship will take place in Turkish waters until this Saturday, August 23rd.

Majorcans Maria de Lluc Bestard, Sibila Busquets Martínez, Antoni Llull Tugores and Edoardo Cioffi, all from Real Club Náutico de Palma, will represent Spain.
The balearic fleet arrives in Istanbul with an important triumph: in the last month of June they were crowned victors of Spain of Optimist by Autonomic teams in the date that took place in Melilla, an achievement that places them between the most promising teams of the European championship. The individual title achieved by Maria de Lluc Bestard, who was recently crowned female European champion of Optimist in the championship which was celebrated in waters of Çesme, Turkey, is added to this success.
The competition will take place in the legendary waters of the Golden Horn, a strait that connects the Black sea with the Marmara sea. These are historical waters where merchants, explorers and even pirates used to sail, but this week they will make history once again with the 2025 European Optimist Championship by Teams.
