The sailing modern classics cast off at Palma’s bay

The Spirit Yachts Med Cup 2025 gives the final touch to the eason of great cruising international events.

The leading shipyard of the “modern classics” casts off this week at the Real Club Náutico de Palma to compete in the Spirit Yachts Med Cup 2025, a date that will reunite from October 23rd to 26th some of the most elegant and exclusive ships of the world. The regatta, organized by the RCNP in collaboration with the British shipyard Spirit, will have four coastal races, one by session, inside the limits of the Bay of Palma.

The fleet will be divided in two classes in function of the length and the performance of the boats. In Class 1 the imposing ‘Geist’, ‘Elvis’, ‘Anima II’ and ‘An Mei II’ will compete, with the majestic ‘Geist’ (of 33’9 metres of length, the greatest wooden yacht ever built by Spirit) as referent of the category. Class 2 will reunite ‘Happy Forever’, ‘Flight of Durgan’ and ‘Legolas’, this last one with 14 metres of length, the smallest of the fleet. All these represent the concept “modern classics” which defines Spirit Yachts to perfection: ships built in an artisanal way in wood with temporary lines, combined with the most advanced nautical technology.

The Spirit Yachts Med Cup 2025 arrives just a few weeks after the Real Club Náutico de Palma hosted Cape 31 Europe’s Championship. With this regatta, the RCNP will put the final touch to its international cruising events calendar , before focusing on the races of other disciplines.

However, the club will keep its intense sporting activity: the traditional ABANCA light sailing Ciutat de Palma Trophy will be celebrated during the long weekend of the Constitución, at the start of December, while the ORC regional competitions will continue until the end of season with the Bon Vent GP Sails Trophy.
