The event, open to ships of all nautical clubs with ORC certificate, is consolidated as one of the most awaited dates of the sailor calendar in the southeast of Mallorca with this third edition. The fleet set sail at midday, with 40 minutes of delay regarding the expected hour, due to the lack of wind. Right at the start, a sudden drop of the wind’s intensity has slowed down the beginning of the regatta, but after the wind, that has started from the south and gone to the southeast, has picked up strength until achieving 14 knots.

The regatta has been fast, and the fleet has completed in a maximum of two hours and a half the coastal journey between S’Estanyol, Son Bieló, colonia de Sant Jordi and Es Trenc, designed to be spectacular from the sea, in addition to being close and visible from land, bringing sailing to all publics.

After the regatta, the party has continued on land, specifically in the social area of the CNR, where assistants, alongside family and friends, have enjoyed a sailor ‘picada’ and a fraternity meal, coinciding with the participants of a fishing session that the club organizes all year.

After the meal, the funny and good-natured awards ceremony has taken place. «The Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita was one of the first clients that took a chance on our agency when we started over a decade ago, and with thai regatta we want to return that trust to the club», has said Carlos Hellín, CEO of Nautimedia and director of Passion for the Sea, during his intervention in the awards ceremony, that has kicked off with a special distinction to Toni Bestard, responsible of Edition and the right hand of the audiovisual department of Hellín in Nautimedia.

Regarding the qualifying, CNR’s president, Pau Lladó,has been the responsible for giving the awards to the absolute winners of the 3rd Passion for the Sea regatta, which has been the ‘Tris Tras’, followed by ‘S’Indio III’ and, competing the podium, ‘Nidea 2’. In the 3-4 ORC category, the winner has been the ‘Tris Tras’, with Peppa in second position and ‘Isis in third. Also, in terms of humour, a special award has been given to the last boat in arriving to the final line, which has been ‘American Girl’.

In addition, an award has been given to the youngest sailor/shipowner, Toni Baltasar, and to the oldest one Pep Lluís Sanders. Joan Lladó, father and son, have also received a gift for the healthy intergenerational competitiveness that they have protagonized before and during the regatta, uniting two generations around a passion for the sea. Finally, Carlos Estellers ‘Patxi’ and Toni Reta have received gifts, for their collaboration and involvement in the regatta.

After the awards ceremony, the party has continued all afternoon, with music and drinks. All that has been possible thanks to the supports of collaborator such as Antoni Reta, who has delighted the assistants with his gastronomic offer, and the sponsoring of Suau and Puig, who gave their quality and commitment mark to this sailing party.

The event takes its name and is sponsored by Passion for the Sea, the crossplatform of nautical communication of the Nautimedia Communciation group that streams TV pieces and radiophonic programs in Grup4 Comunicació (Canal4), in addition to offering daily contents in www.pasionporelmar.com and in social media, with reports, current topics and interviews focused on sea culture.

The history of this regatta shows that its spirit goes beyond competition: in the first edition (2023), 11 boats took part, highlighted by an exciting duel between Nidea II (Aleix Truyols), the winner, and S’Indio III (Joan Lladó), who finished second, with Beduino (Carlos Garau and Pere Pau Fullana) completing the podium. In the second edition (2024), 14 sailboats competed, representing clubs such as CNR, CN S’Estanyol, Puerto Portals, and CN Sóller; victory went to S’Indio III (Joan Lladó), followed by Peppa (Simon McGoldik) and Huayra (José Martín).

“Beyond the results, what we want is for everyone to have fun, to create a good vibe and camaraderie among sailors, and for the day to be remembered with a smile, as a regatta that is competitive but also fun,” says Hellín, who highlights the involvement of CNR and its members as a key factor in the regatta’s success.
