The Parliament requests measures to avoid hourly jet skis rental

The Commission of Territorial Ordination, Habitat, Mobility, Sea and Water Cycle of the Parliament has approved this Wednesday, October 15th, an initiative of the PP to claim the central and autonomic governments measures to avoid hourly jet skis rental.

The No Law Proposal (PNL) has been defended by Margalida Pocoví and also claims the prohibition of recreational boats rental to people with no officially recognized sailing qualification.

On the other hand, the Commission has rejected the socialist initiative to boost the realization of a technical and environmental study, in collaboration  with investigation centres, scientific entities, social organizations and agents linked to the sea, regarding the viability of the installation of artificial obstacles in the bay of Palma, especially in the areas of Cala Mayor and Es Carnatge, with the objective of recovering the marine biodiversity and improving water’s quality.

The PNL, defended by socialist Pilar Carbonero, wanted to put too into forced a pioneering project of marine regeneration in the bay of Palma through placing artificial obstacles and other biocompatible structures, with a design adapted to ecological necessities of the area and in coordination with the competent administrations in maritime and portuary matter.
