The Civil Guard has organized an open doors session for the civilians to be able to visit the interior of the oceanic vessel 'Duque de Ahumada' during its stay in Palma.

The 'Duque de Ahumada', according to a press release from the Civil Guard’s Leadership, has been incorporated to the Strait’s Maritime Group, with base in Cádiz, and it will replace 'Río Miño'.
Their missions will be the prevention of cross-border crimes, maritime safety and the fight against irregular migration and human trafficking.
In addition, it will fulfill commitments undertaken in the territorial waters of other European Union countries, as EU funding requires the vessel to be deployed on missions in Europe for a period of four months each year.
The new Civil Guard ship features five decks, a helipad, two fast intervention boats, and a remotely operated underwater vehicle for inspection and subaquatic tracking at depths of up to 1,000 meters.
It is also equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and communication systems, medical facilities and a nursing area, a security section, and a survivor zone capable of accommodating up to one hundred people.
The vessel has a range of over 11,000 nautical miles, with the capacity to remain at sea for up to 30 days without docking. It can reach a speed of 18 knots and has a patrol speed exceeding 11 knots.
Accommodation on board is provided for 44 crew members and 12 additional personnel.
