The Government strengthens the maintenance of mooring systems and underwater structures in Mallorca

The contract will ensure preventive and corrective maintenance of underwater infrastructure in PortsIB's directly managed ports across Mallorca for the next two years.

The Government of the Balearic Islands, through the Ports of the Balearic Islands (PortsIB), an entity attached to the Ministry of the Sea and the Water Cycle, has launched the tender for a new comprehensive maintenance services contract covering mooring systems and underwater structures at the directly managed ports in Mallorca. The contract has a budget of €1,782,781 (VAT included).

The contract will ensure the proper maintenance of mooring systems, mooring chains, sinkers, fenders, anchors and all other underwater components forming part of the port infrastructure over the next two years. Its objective is to maintain these assets in optimal condition, enhance the safety of port facilities and ensure the uninterrupted provision of services to users.

To improve operational efficiency, the service has been divided into three lots covering different areas of Mallorca's coastline: West Mallorca, South-East Mallorca, and North-East Mallorca. This division will optimise available resources, enable faster responses to maintenance needs and improve the planning and execution of maintenance works.

The contract will be awarded through an open procedure subject to harmonised procurement regulations and will have an initial duration of 24 months. Its estimated total value amounts to €3.75 million, including any extensions and contract modifications permitted under public procurement legislation.

Through this initiative, the Government of the Balearic Islands continues to advance its strategy of preserving and modernising the region's publicly owned port infrastructure. Regular maintenance of underwater infrastructure is essential to ensuring the safety of port facilities, preserving the efficient operation of the ports and providing a high-quality service to users of the port network managed by PortsIB.
