The unit of this Wednesday, August 13th, as well as the one from Tuesday 12th in the bay of Talamanza form part of the summery control campaign of the Vigilance Service of Posidonia, but answer to punctual units in different major pressure nautical areas.

YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!Agriculture, Fishing and Natural Environment Counselling has carried out this Wednesday, August 13th, a new unit to fight against illegal mooring on the posidonia oceanica meadows, in this case in the bay of Sant Antoni de Portmany and in Cala Bassa, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, in Ibiza. During the operation, 9 reports have been taken for mooring on posidonia. Wednesday’s operation as well as Tuesday’s one in the bay of Talamanca form part of the control campaign of the Vigilance Service of Posidonia, but answer to the punctual operatives in spots of major nautical pressure.
The operation has been coordinated by the Counselling, through the Balearic Institute of Nature (IBANAT) and the Posidonia Central, and has counted with the participation of Environment Agents of the Government and the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge Ministry (MITECO). Staff from the Council of Sant Antoni and local police agents of the municipality have also participated, with the unity of drones, territorial unit of beaches (through aquatic resources), beaches technicians, lifeguards, Ports IB and the ship of the Natural Reserves of es Vedrà, es Vedranell and the Ponent islets. The operation has also counted with the participation of the Council of Sant Josep de sa Talaia.
The dispositive is marked in the campaign of Vigilance Service of Posidonia of the Government to reduce the impact of the anchors and the chains on the posidonia meadows and preserving marine biodiversity. The bay of Sant Antoni has incremented nautical pressure these last years, which makes these operations necessary to guarantee the accomplishment of Posidonia Conservation Decree, specially before recidivist boats.
The collaboration with the Council of Sant Antoni has been key to advance in the ordenation of the bay and reinforce inspection tasks. At the same time, coordination between Natural Environment and agents of the MITECO have allowed carrying out a more efficient operation and with a major coverage in areas of vigilance.
The Central of Posidonia of the Vigilance Service keeps nineteen active ships daily this summer, dedicated to the protection of this submarine forest, with special attention to areas of wide nautical pressure such as Sant Antoni.
