An initiative created to highlight the value of the Mallorcan sardine and blue fish, emphasizing their nutritional value, as well as their role in the local gastronomy and the fishing tradition of the island.

The first edition of the Fira de la Sardina de Palma aims to promote local and proximity products, reinforcing their presence in the gastronomic and cultural offering of Mallorca. It is an opportunity for residents, visitors, and tourists to discover, appreciate, and enjoy the richness offered by the Balearic Sea, thus contributing to boosting the fishing sector, the restaurant industry, and sustainability.

The fair will feature a gastronomic area, an exhibition area dedicated to entities related to fishing, the preservation of the sea and the environment, as well as a children’s area and a space for local crafts.

Four days of fair with a very wide and varied program that will include live music, workshops, family entertainment, seafaring parades, and the awarding of the Sardina d’Or prizes, which will recognize fishing careers, gastronomic innovation, and commitment to the preservation of the sea.

On Thursday, May 15, the fair will be officially inaugurated with the arrival of the fishermen, the lighting of the grills, and a concert of habaneras. During the rest of the days, there will be activities related to fishing and seafaring culture, workshops by the Palma Aquarium Foundation, and musical sessions with various local DJs.

Additionally, within the framework of the Fira de la Sardina de Palma, the first Sustainable Fishing Days of Palma will be held, aimed at sector professionals, including a series of lectures and institutional and technical presentations on the current state of fishing in Mallorca.

These days, organized by the Fishermen’s Guild of Palma, will feature the participation of the Maritime Museum of Mallorca, the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA-UIB), the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, and the Local Fisheries Action Group (GALP Mallorca). They will also include interventions by training centers and institutional representatives from the Balearic Port Authority (APB) and the Palma City Council.
