Glass bottles, tires, irons, mobile devices, among others, were removed by the divers with the help of the land volunteers.
Pedro Barceló, the club's security director, thanked the participation of the more than thirty volunteers: "This year we have exceeded the expected number of helpers. Without a doubt, without the volunteers, this action could not be carried out, so the merit is theirs."
The cleanup day is part of the environmental actions carried out by the club from its Quality and Environment Department and Environment directed by María Miralles, with the aim of preserving and respecting the environment, in addition to natural resources. “The seabed cleaning aims to prevent pollution and protect the marine ecosystem, as well as to raise awareness of the need for good waste management,” explained Barceló.
The seabed cleaning is part of the agreement on good environmental practices signed by Club de Mar-Mallorca and the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands through its Department of Quality, Environment, Innovation, and CSR, whose head is Jorge Martín.
After the divers' work, the waste was sorted to be later deposited at the club's green point. The day ended with the participating volunteers enjoying a paella.
