The European Commission is studying the petition of the Balearics to withdraw the reduction of fishing days in the Mediterranean.

“The Commission is currently analyzing the proposition and will answer shortly about its content”, prays the short answer of Von der Leyen.
The answer refers to a No Law Proposition (PNL) that was approved, by PP’s petition, to insist to the European Commission to withdraw the reduction bottom trawling days offer in the Occidental Mediterranean.
The text of the parliamentary initiative claimed keeping the current level of 2024 and showed the support of the autonomic Chamber to the Balearic fishing field.
The initiative highlighted that while in 2019 there were 240 fishing days; today there’s 130, and the offer for 2025 would mean a cut of the 79% regarding the initial values.
