The Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa (CMSAP) celebrated its sporting achievements of the 2025 season this past weekend in an emotional gala held at the Son Termes restaurant. During the event, awards were presented to the best sailors of the year, who secured 5 international podium finishes, 12 national podiums, and 23 regional podiums across various sailing classes.

Windsurfers and 420 class sailors were the stars of the evening. Laia Mattos was crowned World and European Champion in the 420 Under-17 class, while Joshua Castro became World Champion for the second time and claimed bronze at the European Championship in the Techno 293 Under-15 class. Another international podium came from Diego Coronado, who took bronze at the Under-17 420 World Championship.

CMSAP’s strong commitment to the Techno 293 class was also rewarded with victories by Biel Martorell, Spanish Champion in Techno 293 Under-15, and his sister María Martorell, who won the gold medal at the Spanish Cup in the Under-13 category.

In the 420 class, Diego Coronado won the Spanish Cup Under-17 and earned the silver medal at the Spanish Championship Under-17.

In the Olympic class IQ Foil, the club’s emerging talent shone at national competitions. Clara Puigserver won the silver medal at the Spanish Championship Under-17, while Marta Juncal finished second at the Spanish Cup Under-19.

Among the women sailors, Carla Ordina stood out as runner-up in the Balearic Championship in Bich Techno 293 Under-15, as did María Martorell in the Under-13 category.

Àngels Ferragut also excelled by finishing third in the women’s category at the Balearic ILCA 6 Championship, and Fernando Cosmelli placed first in the ILCA 6 Under-19 category.

During the gala, tribute was also paid to the achievements of cruiser sailors, the youth sailing school, and the CMSAP technical team, followed by a dinner that brought together members, athletes, and families of the honorees.

Juan Miguel Catalá, president of the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, emphasized in his speech that the sailing section “is the pride” of the club for its commitment, effort, and discipline. He also highlighted the important support of parents.

“CMSAP is more than a club because the athletes feel it as their family,” he added.
