The Club Marítimo de Mahón honors its athletes in its Great Final Season Gala

The entity from Mahón has celebrated a new edition of the event with which the club puts an end to the season, with a special applause to Jordi Triay and Lluís Mas for their recent European title and to Alma Rabinerson for her participation in the World’s and Europe’s Champs.

The Club Marítimo set the curtains of the season down last Saturday, September 20th, with the celebration of the traditional gala with which they award, applause and honor the club’s athletes, in canoeing as well as sailing.The date, in addition, lived some moments charged of emotion, like when Jordi Triay and Lluís Mas offered the cup that made them Europe’s champions, or the deserved appaloosa to paddler Alma Rabinerson for her participation in the World’s Chams and the U23 European with the Spanish selection. 

Around 7:30 p.m. the event kicked off, which opened with an emotional video to honor the different sections of the Club and some of the events that have taken place in Mahón. Afterwards, the president of the club, Basilio Ferrer, gave some words to the assistants and gave an award to the manager Nacho Marra, for his 40 years of service at the Club Marítimo de Mahón.

The canoeing section was the first one in receiving the awards, while it was then the turn for sailing, in which, in addition, the corresponding cups to the final qualifying of the different competitions organized by the Club were given.

In the highlighted athletes sections, the athletes that stood out were sailor Eduard Crussells, shipowner of ‘Foraster’, boat with which he was crowned champion of the Menorca Sant Joan – Regata Alfonso XII Trophy, paddlers Alma Rabinerson and Claudia Vidal, who, amongst other achievements, got a bronze medal in Spain’s Championship, Menorcan sailors, Juvenile Europe and Spain’s champions in Snipe, Roser Gregorio and Blanca Sintes, Sara Franceschi as Spain’s Champion in Snipe, and the pair formed by Jordi Triay y Lluís Mas.

The event had the presence of councillor of Mobility of the Insular Council Juan Manuel Delgado,the manager of Economic Promotion of Mahón’s Town Hall, Susana Salom, Sea and Water Cycle’s councillor, Juan Manuel Lafuente, the commander of Mahón’s Navy Base, Federico Pérez Dueñas, the president of the Balearic Canoeing Federation, Juan Carlos Fuentes, the manager of the Balearic Sailing, Federation, Antoni Ponsetí, the representative of the Marea brand, the commodore of the Club Marítimo de Mahón, Toni Pomar, the representative of Canoeing of the Club Marítimo de Mahón, Ulyses Luque and the president of the Club, Basilio Ferrer.

In addition, the ice creams of La Menorquina, sponsor of the Club, put the sweet touch to a night that has live music thanks to a ‘charanga’ and a DJ.
