The Balearics Nikko Palou and Mónica Osha make a difference in the World’s ILCA 4 Champs

Sailors Nikko Palou and Mónica Osha, both from Real Club Náutico de Palma, have shone in the World’s ILCA 4 Champs. Palou, on his behalf, has achieved second place in Under16 and the sixth place in the general, while Osha has achieved the 22nd place in the general.

Valencian sailor Blanca Ferrando, from Real Club Náutico de Valencia, has achieved this Saturday a new sporting success for the Valencian and Spanish sailing when crowning herself victor of the world in ILCA 4 in Los Ángeles (USA). The Valencian, being the youngest sailor in absolute category, has showed a very high level during this week of competition in the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club, base of the World’s date, in which she assumed the leadership of the fleet in the first journey of the qualifying round and did not get down of that place, showing a maturity and a solvency in water at the reach of very few athletes of her age.

The sailor from the RCN of Valencia, which forms part of the PER Project, has achieved this World’s title showing a solid and regular sailing. Her undisputed victory has had all the wind conditions, affirming the title with the lack of a test in which the top 10 secured her the World’s title no matter what happened in the last test.

The Valencian closed the qualifying round with partials of 6-2-1-1-11-7. Already in the Gold group, Blanca has shown herself as solid and firm, arriving this Saturday with all in her favor. With two expected tests, this last day she initiated her path to the title with a worked and brilliant 5th place. She was already a champion, but she wanted more. When she occupied the third place of this sixth test of the final round in an incident that caused the breakage of the helm, causing her retirement from the test.That DNF in her box did not darken in any way the brilliant work and results she obtained in the USA.

A work that has not only come just because Blanca Ferrando has been accompanied by the technician of the RCN of Valencia: Borja Más. But this magnificent of Blanca and Borja has had the golden award of another great promise which aims higher: Marta Ferrando. The Valencian concludes its 6th place in Under16, of the absolute general. These good results are translated into the base work that is carried out day to day in the Real Club Náutico de Valencia.

Blanca has been flanked in the podium by the Peruvian Isabella Suazo, second with 66 points, 10 more than the Valencian, while the bronze has been for the Turkish Derin Bartan, summing a total of 79 points. The Greek Konstantinos Portosalte has been the champion in the male category, accompanied in the podium by Brazilian Erik Scheidt and Turkish Sadrihan Suer, silver and bronze respectively. Balearic Nikko Palou, from Real Club Náutico de Palma, is highlighted in this category in the podium, being second in Under16 and sixth in the absolute general.

This new World Championship in ILCA 4 sums up to the third place in the European of Poland since barely 20 days. The second World Champs that Valencian accomplishes, since, in 2023, in Spain, she achieved the title of World Champion in Optimist, which turns her into one of the few sailors of the world that have achieved being the champion in two different classes at such a young age.

Spain has shone in the World Champs in the USA. Balearic Llucia Salas has ended 14th, while Sofía Hernández, from Tenerife, does it in the place 20, the Balearic Mónica Osha, from Real Club Náutico de Palma, in the 22nd, Francisca Puig in the 31st, Marta Ferrando in the 35th and June Olazabal in the 50th.
