The Balearics lead the recreational boats registration in a year of national decrease

The nautical market in the Balearics keeps showing its strength and leadership on a State’s level in peak season, despite the accumulation of an important decrease in the number of registries during the first seven months of the year.

Between January and July of 2025, the islands have registered 486 matriculations of recreational boats, which represents a reduction of the 23,2% regarding the same period of last year, according to the Recreational Boats Market Report (January-July 2025) published by ANEN with data of the Directorate General of the Marine Merchant.

From ANEN, their general director, Jordi Carrasco, highlights that “after a beginning of a year with generalized downfalls, the market has shown itself with a tendency to recovery since June that points to and adjust of demand and a favorable closure of the current nautical season, but we are still very attentive to the economic evolution and outside factors that can influence in the consume”.

This setback is marked in a context of general moderation of the national nautical market, which counted a total of 3.684 registries between January and July of 2025. In any case, the archipelago stays as the province with more volume of matriculations up to July of 2025, in front of Barcelona, with 470 registered units, and Murcia, with 336.

Focusing on the rental market, one of the main motors of the field in the Islands, the boats destined to rental summed up a decrease of 17,3% on a State’s level until situating in 1.175 matriculations in the first seven months of the year.
