The Balearics claim a fishing comanagement model with social, scientific and institutional agents

The Parliament has focused on consolidating a formalizes fishing comanagement system in which the autonomic and statal administration, the cofraternities and fishmongers associations, independent scientific experts and environmental organizations participate.

It is one of the points of the non-binding proposal (NBP) defended by the MP socialist  Malena Riudavets, that has been partially approved in the meeting of the Territorial Ordination, Habitage, Mobility, Sea and Water Cycle Commission celebrated the afternoon of this Wednesday, November 19th.

The initiative also tries to boost singularized fishing management pland that include control systems, fair redistribution mechanisms of fishing activity, ecological and socioeconomic impact indicators and tools for climate resilience and protection of biodiversity.

The MPs have also supported integrating the gender perspective into all the phases of plannification, management and evaluation of the fishing comanagement model and establishing a collaboration mark with research centers to develop studies, indicators and tracking plans.

On the contrary, votes against PP, Vox and the non-adscribed MP Xisco Cardona have let other three initiative points that looked to boost the creation of the Balearic Research Institute for the Sea Governance (Ibalmar) fall, giving it autonomy to manage its resources and ensuring that it has an adequate funding.

The parlamentary commission has also argued and approved by unanimity another (NBP), this one defended by the speaker of Més per Menorca, Josep Castells.

This way, the Parliament has insisted on PortsIB to guarantee the correct finalization of the expiration of reports of the claims of left environmental impact, the referent one to the expanding of the sportive port of Addaia (Menorca) included, respecting the periods and the independence of the technicians and competent officials in this matter.
