Spain’s ILCA 6 Cup hosted by the Galician Sailing Centre, will take place until this Sunday, October 12th. The date reunites over 150 sailors coming from Spain and countries such as Sweden, Portugal, Estonia, Panama and Guatemala.

With a great activity from the first hour in the morning, the center carried out the measurements of the boats, a compulsory protocol in which the jury reviewed the sails, the gears and the helmet of the boat to carry out the loyal fulfillment of the normatives. Today, October 10th, the starting gun for the competition is given.
It is important to highlight that, out of the over 150 sailors that gathered in waters of Ría de Arousa to compete in the regatta, around twenty come from the following clubs of the Balearics: Real Club Náutico de Palma, Reial Club Nàutic del Port de Pollença, Club Nàutic s’Arenal, Club Nàutic Cala Gamba, Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita and el Club Marítimo de Mahón.
The established categories are: Absolute, in male as well as female; U21 female; and U19 male and female.
In addition, the regatta Committee has advanced the departure an hour earlier from what was programmed for today, so it will be at 12 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. This change will allow taking advantage of the meteorological component, that at those hours show a north-east wind with 6 knots and streaks of 11 to 12 knots.
The sports program contemplates, in addition, the celebration of up to 9 races during the three journeys, three for every regatta day, taking into account that there have to be a minimum of two to qualify for Spain’s Cup.
On the other hand, the awards ceremony is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. this Sunday, October 12th, the departures not being able to be carried out in this last journey after 4 p.m.
ILCA 6 Spain’s CUp is organized by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, and had the sponsorship of Xunta de Galicia, through the Secretaría Xeral para o Deporte, and Diputación de Pontevedra, with the support of the Concello de Vilagarcía de Arousa, Autoridad Portuaria del Puerto de Vilagarcía and Capitanía Marítima.
