YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The Balearic Marine Cluster has completed the development of a total of 30 official training specialties in the nautical sector, as part of a project driven by the SOIB (Servei d’Ocupació de les Illes Balears) and financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU. The initiative received technical backing from the National Nautical Reference Center, Centre de la Mar, and involved the active participation of over 40 companies from the Balearic industrial network.
The project includes the creation of 24 new specialties and the update of 6 existing ones, with the goal of modernizing the nautical sector's training catalog and adapting it to the real needs of the labor market. The specialties cover areas such as electric propulsion, nautical electronics, sail and upholstery making, carpentry, mechanical maintenance, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, and boat painting, among others.
Throughout its development, more than 60 technical meetings were held with specialized companies in the Balearic Islands, contributing to the definition of each specialty’s content from a practical perspective, aimed at employability and aligned with the technological and environmental transformation of the sector.
“The future of the nautical sector depends on having qualified personnel and training programs adapted to new professional profiles. With this project, we are taking a decisive step to ensure generational renewal and improve the competitiveness of our companies. This project is the result of a year of work alongside businesses and public administrations to finally provide the nautical sector with a training offer tailored to its real needs. It is a solid foundation for developing qualified talent and consolidating the future of our industry,” stated Miquel López, Project Manager of the Balearic Marine Cluster.
López has led all phases of the project with commitment and dedication, from technical planning to validation with the SOIB, coordinating companies, sector experts, and public administrations to ensure a useful, operational outcome aligned with the sustainable growth model promoted by the cluster.
The SOIB has included the newly created specialties in the SEPE’s (Spanish Public Employment Service) Catalog of Training Specialties, enabling them to be taught nationwide within the framework of Work-Based Training. This will allow training centers, public and private entities to offer these programs in the coming months, expanding opportunities for employment and specialized technical training in the Balearic Islands.
This project not only enhances the training offer but also represents a strategic move with a direct impact on employability, the growth of the auxiliary sector, and the consolidation of the Balearic Islands as a benchmark hub for high value-added nautical services.
