The Balearic Islands close the first quarter at the head of the national boating market

The Balearic Islands have once again positioned themselves as the main driving force of the Spanish boating market in the first quarter of 2026. Between January and March, 138 recreational boat registrations were recorded in the archipelago, representing 14% of the national total, according to the Recreational Boat Market Report (March 2026) prepared by ANEN, based on records provided by the Directorate General of the Merchant Navy.

“March’s figures point to the kind of rebound that is typical for this time of year and suggest a trend of gradual recovery. We are approaching the season with a market showing signs of momentum, although it will be important to continue monitoring demand in the coming months,” said Jordi Carrasco, Director General of ANEN.

At national level, the Spanish boating market reached 970 registrations in the first quarter, representing year-on-year growth of 15.3%. In this way, the islands continue to lead the ranking of registrations by province, followed by Murcia, with 124 registered units, and Barcelona, with 92.

In the nautical charter segment, the Balearic Islands once again rank first, with 69 registrations for charter use in the first quarter. In this way, the archipelago accounts for nearly a quarter of all charter activity in the country, which recorded 288 registrations nationwide and growth of 15.7%, consolidating its recovery after the decline of 2025.

In this context, the Balearic Islands more than double the market share of the provinces that follow them in the charter market, Murcia and Barcelona, both with 31 boats registered in the first quarter.
