The Balearic fleet leaves its mark at the ILCA U21 European Championships

Mallorcan Karol Krupski, from CVPA, U19 Europe’s runner-up, and Sergio García, third, lead a highlighted performance of the Spanish team in Split. Marga Perelló, from the Real Club Náutico de Palma, U21 fourth, is behind the continental podium by one step.

U21 ILCA Europe’s Championships, celebrated in Split (Croatia) from October 18th to the 25th, has concluded with a brilliant performance of the Spanish team, which confirms the high level of the new sailors generation and the preolympic and 2032 teams of the RFEV. 

In the ILCA 7 category, Marc O’Connor, from Real Club Náutico de Palma, signed  an excellent fifth position, which the member of the preolympic Spanish team, Karol Krupski, from Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, of only 18 years old, was overall ninth and U19 European runner-up. From the 2032 team, Fernando Abella (10º) and David Ponseti (12º), from Real Club Náutico de Palma also stood out. Sergio García (15º and U19 European bronze), Daniel Giménez (17º and U19 4º) and Tim Lubat (18º and U19 5º), also from Real Club Náutico de Palma, finished in the Top 20, placing seven Spanish boats between the first twenty, an exceeding result in a maximum level fleet.

In ILCA 6, the Balearic of the 2032 team of the RFEV, Marga Perelló, from Real Club Náutico de Palma, shone with the fourth European position, while Adriana Castro (U29 12ª, RCN Torrevieja), member of the ILCA 6 Preolympic team, completed also a great performance, consolidating the excellent base work that she has been carrying out in female sailing. 

The championship, with 242 sailors coming from 37 countries, was carried out in diverse and demanding conditions that put consistency and talent of young athletes to the test.

The results reflect the great moment of young Spanish sailing and the potential of new generations of the 2032 team of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, who look forward to the next international dates with ambition and confidence.
