21st May 2026 by Agencies

With the imminent staging of the Bay of Pollença Regatta, the second scoring event of the 2026 Ausmar Regatta Circuit, thirteen boats are now aiming to position themselves in the overall Circuit standings following La Ruta de la Sal Rumbo Ibiza, the first event of the season.

The Ausmar Regatta Circuit brings together five offshore regattas specially designed for the cruiser fleet, offering owners and crews a complete route through some of the most outstanding sailing areas in the western Mediterranean. With starts and finishes in locations such as Ibiza, Mallorca, the Costa Brava and the coastlines of Barcelona, Badalona, Tarragona and Alicante, and with a calendar running from March to November, the circuit offers a season marked by tactical variety, changing conditions and offshore sailing.

The format of the circuit rewards consistency throughout the season. To qualify for the final standings, owners must take part in at least two of the five events on the calendar. The three best results will count, while the two worst scores may be discarded. This edition introduces a new classification system based on inverted scoring, with the boat finishing the circuit with the lowest number of points being declared the winner.

The score is taken from the overall classification of each regatta and calculated according to the position obtained, considering only the boats competing in the circuit. As a result, consistency and performance against direct rivals take on decisive importance in the battle for the overall standings, narrowing the gaps between competitors and ensuring excitement right up to the final event.

Following La Ruta de la Sal Rumbo Ibiza, held during Easter Week as the first event of the circuit, the Bay of Pollença Regatta will start tomorrow, Friday 22nd of May. The fleet will depart from Port Ginesta bound for Mallorca and, after rounding Cape Formentor and covering 104 nautical miles, will cross the finish line in front of the Reial Club Nàutic Port de Pollença.

Of the nearly 30 boats entered in this edition, twelve are already competing for the Ausmar Regatta Circuit standings, having also taken part in the first event of the season. Special attention will be on Diabolic, the Sun Fast 35 that was the overall winner of the Barcelona version of the latest edition of La Ruta de la Sal Rumbo Ibiza, and which starts as one of the key boats to watch in this second event. Alongside her will be direct rivals such as Pekas X, a JOD 35 and the reigning Ausmar Regatta Circuit champion, and Nirvana Tres, a Hanse 470e and runner-up in the last two editions.

In 2026, the Ausmar Regatta Circuit once again has AUSMAR as its main sponsor. The company, which specialises in maritime safety, continues to support the development and promotion of cruiser sailing and offshore regattas.
