The 31st Illes Balears Clàssics gets under way with 14 boats already entered

The regatta will be held for the first time at the newly renovated facilities of Club de Mar-Mallorca.

The Illes Balears Clàssics will celebrate its 31st edition from 11 to 15 August 2026 at the new facilities of Club de Mar-Mallorca. Four months before the event, the regatta already has 14 boats entered, including true jewels of the sea such as Cariad (1896), Argyll (1948), Clarionet (1966), and the impressive Recluta, built in 2021 from 1942 plans.

Last year’s edition, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of the regatta, brought together 40 boats and recorded the highest participation in its history. The organisers expect to match or surpass those figures in what will be a very special edition, held for the first time at the newly renovated Club de Mar-Mallorca facilities.

Owners, crews and visitors will be able to enjoy a new complex made up of four spacious and interconnected buildings, where they will find a carefully selected range of commercial outlets and services. This offering is complemented by four restaurants of different styles, including a new gastronomic leisure space that combines dining and nightlife in a fully glazed setting.

The 31st edition will once again feature a full social and cultural programme, with activities aimed at promoting maritime heritage. Among the cultural highlights planned during the regatta are a nautical photography exhibition and talks by prominent personalities from the yachting world.

On the sporting side, the regatta retains its international character and its commitment to bringing together emblematic vessels. The competition is open to Vintage Boats, Classics and Spirit of Tradition, Classic RI, Big Boats, IOR Classics, and the Presencia class. The first race, the Marine Pool Regatta, will take place on Wednesday, 12th of August, with independent scoring from the rest of the competition days.

The Illes Balears Clàssics counts towards the 16th Clásicos Mare Nostrum Trophy – Spanish Classic Sailing Cup, as well as the CIM Circuit 2026 (International Mediterranean Championship).

The regatta is organised by Club de Mar-Mallorca on behalf of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, with the collaboration of the Balearic Sailing Federation, the Royal National Cruising Association, and the Spanish Association of Vintage and Classic Boats.
