This initiative, promoted by the Government of the Balearic Islands, seeks to bring young people from our islands closer to the maritime world through nautical and water-based activities that encourage respect for and preservation of the marine environment and ecosystem.
In the latest edition, 26 marinas and sailing clubs and 68 primary schools from the Balearic Islands collaborated, with a total of 3,382 participating students. The organisation of these events was coordinated by the Balearic Sailing Federation and the Balearic Canoeing Federation.
Alcudiamar joined this initiative by hosting activities combining sports such as paddle surfing, sailing, and kayaking with environmental talks and guided tours of its facilities. All of this took place at its water sports centre, Alcudiamar Watersports by Wind Pirates.
From 18th of May to 4th of June, Alcudiamar welcomed around 500 Year 5 and Year 6 primary school students from 10 schools in towns such as Alcúdia, Binissalem, Sa Pobla, and Cala Millor.
In the words of Bartomeu Bestard, President and CEO of Alcudiamar, “Blue Week is a unique opportunity for primary school children to get closer to a marina like Alcudiamar and experience it from the inside, often for the first time. We are delighted to have joined this initiative by the Government.”
