The 2026 calendar of nautical licences exams is already defined

The yearly encounter reinforces the coordination of the sector and cosolidates a rigurous training model and adapted to the needs of crafts sailing.

The Directorate General of Ports and Maritime Transport, of the Counselling of the Sea and the Water Cycle, celebrated last week their yearly reunion with the nautical schools of recreational licences, an encounter to approve a calendar of the four exam calls for the year 2026. During the session needs of coordination were talked about to ensure the correct development of the races and technic questions from the schools were resolved.

The reunion, that had the assistance of the general director of Ports and Maritime Transport, Toni Mercant, reunited the following training centers: A.N Miguel Olives, Autoboat Roca SL, Club Náutico Sant Antoni – Es Nàutic, Cruceros Mansaya SL, Escuela Balear de Náutica, Escuela del Mar, IB Yachting, Latitud 39º, Náutica Seland, Alberto Vilà, Es Nàutic, E.N. Posidonia, Estelas SL, Islander Sea Training School, Misael Morante, One Day Charter, Stella Maris and Zulumar.

The Directorate General highlighted the essential role of these encounters to keep a rigurous and updated system of licenses aligned with the needs of the sector. In this sense, the department reminded that the exams of nautical licences and their management represent an important part of ordinary activity of the area, that during 2024 registered 2.960 requests of theorical exams: 927 in April, 730 in June, 429 in September and 874 in December.

In addition, throughout 2024 4.232 expeditions and title renovations were processed and cards, distributed between yacht captain (264), yacht skipper (507), crafts boat skipper (PER) (3.017), basic licence (442) and jet skis (2). This volume of activity put into value the high demand and constant commitment of the Directorate General to guarantee an efficient, safe and high-level service for all users.

The Government points out that  the collaboration with the nautical schools is key to keep advancing in the professionzalization of the sector and boosting reponsible maritime culture, that contribtes to safety at sea and good use of nautical and portuary resources of the Balearic Islands.
