The 2025 Palma International Boat Show increases a 4’5% in income compared to last year

The study carried out by the Directorate General of Economy and Statistics confirms that the medium cost of PIBS visitors doubles the average of the month of April of the rest of tourists.

Palma International Boat Show’s last edition generated an economic impact of 21 million of euros, number that means an increase of the 4’5% compared to last year, according to the update of a study carried out by the Directorate General of Economy and Statistics about the data base eased by ADR Balears. The morning of today, August 21st, councillor of Companies, Autonomous and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, has presented the result alongside the general director of Economy and Statistics, Catalina Barceló. The manager of the Regional Development Agency of the Balearic Islands, Sílvia Delgado, has also assisted.

The counsillor of Companies, Autonomous and Energy has expressed the importance of organizing these type of events, since “it does not only mean a very important date to position our nautical industry and dynamize a strategic field for our economy, but also a very important attractive event of visitors and businessmen that create wealth for the rest of the business network of the Balearic Islands, especially in Palma, such as the cost in hostelry and restoration, transport, commerce, industry and other services”.

In fact, the direct impact of the fair, organized by the Counselling of Companies, Autonomous and Energy, through ADR Balears, and Balearic Yacht Brokers Association, also increases by 4,8 % and rises up to 14,2 million euros. This fact belongs to the cost generated by people that travel to Palma with the objective of going to the fair, by the consumption of the residents, as well as the companies that participate in the nautical event.

Over 30.000 people visited the last edition of the PIBS, a 7,3 % more than in 2024, and generated an impact of 13,3 million euros. This increase is due to some factors, such as the consolidation of the fair to complete the offer of the PIBS every year, as it did this year with the new area destined to big length boats built in unique-models shipyards (one-off) of the Club de Mar. Sáenz de San Pedro has affirmed that “we’ve achieved the fair of Palma to mark the beginning of the nautical season of the Mediterranean. Each time more, the event counts with the participation of shipyards that ask for presenting their new models on a global scope in the PIBS, which determines the main role of the event to be international”.

On her behalf, the general director of Economy and Statistics has pointed out that “this fair, of international projection, attracts almost 7.000 tourists in low season, letting the destination get known and injecting over 7’5 million euros to the Balearic economy. In addition, it mobilizes over 23.200 residents, generating an impact of over 1 million euros, and dynamizes the industrial nautical network with 300 expositors and an impact of 7’7 millions”. In addition, Barceló has confirmed that “the PIBS tourist carries out a daily cost of 437 € and multiples by 2,4 the medium cost of april (183€)”.

Sáenz de San Pedro as well as Barceló have concluded that the number that states the consolidation of the Palma International Boat Show as well as the satisfaction of the participating companies is the repetition index of the expositors, a 96,2 % of which he affirms that want to repeat the experience on next edition, which will take place from April 29th to May 2nd of 2026 in the Moll Vell de Palma.
