Coinciding with World Day for Safety and Health at Work, STP Shipyard Palma held a new edition of its Safety Day, an event aimed at strengthening the culture of prevention within the shipyard through innovation, training and awareness.

Under the theme “Virtual Reality Applied to Safety,” the initiative brought together numerous workers and companies operating within STP’s facilities, once again consolidating itself as an action focused on promoting safer and more responsible working environments.

The event was organised together with Fraternidad and Adsum, combining theoretical sessions with immersive experiences using virtual reality technology applied to occupational risk prevention.

Fraternidad ran workplace road safety workshops focused on raising awareness of the human factor in traffic accidents within professional environments.

Using simulation goggles, participants were able to experience different driving risk situations related to fatigue, alcohol consumption, distractions caused by mobile phone use, and adverse weather conditions, with the aim of encouraging safer and more conscious driving.

Adsum, meanwhile, presented various practical simulations related to prevention and response in workplace environments, using virtual reality tools to recreate situations such as fire extinguishing, working at height, detecting incorrect materials in construction areas, and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

“The experience was very useful because it allows you to experience risk situations in a much more realistic and relatable way. In the end, when you see it and experience it yourself, you become much more aware of the importance of working safely,” said one of the workers who took part in the event.

With initiatives such as Safety Day, STP Shipyard Palma continues to invest in continuous training, innovation applied to prevention, and the creation of a shared safety culture among all the professionals involved in the shipyard’s day-to-day activity.
