At around 4 p.m., an alert was received from 112 reporting that a recreational vessel with six people on board was taking on water near Portals Vells.
The Civil Protection vessel Lima 1, which is responsible for surveillance and lifeguard services, was carrying out its usual patrol in the area. It located the motorboat, whose occupants were making distress signals by waving their arms. The lifeguards immediately approached the vessel.
Once alongside the boat, the responders confirmed that it was beginning to sink at the stern and transferred the crew to Lima 1 for evacuation to Puerto Portals. The motorboat was successfully towed away.
