The race was contested over a coastal course of nearly nine nautical miles. Several sections of the route were deliberately designed so that the participating yachts sailed very close to shore, allowing residents, locals, and visitors in Sa Ràpita, within the municipality of Campos, to enjoy the action from land. This commitment to creating a visual, accessible, and engaging regatta remains true to the event’s original purpose: bringing sailing closer to the public, making it visible from the coast, and turning the competition into a shared celebration of the sea.
The starting signal was given at 11:00 a.m., and the fleet completed the course in approximately two hours. Following the application of ORC corrected times, victory went to S’Indio III, a Dufour 40 owned and helmed by Joan Lladó, which once again demonstrated its consistency and strength in this regatta.
Second place went to Tris Tras Petit, a J/92 skippered by Joan Lladó Jr., providing another chapter in the friendly family rivalry that has become one of the most distinctive stories of the Passion for the Sea Trophy. Completing the podium was Salt, a First 27.7 skippered by Carlos Vicens. All three podium finishers race under the burgee of Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita.
The Passion for the Sea Trophy Regatta was founded with a very clear vision, and four editions later it has established itself as one of the most special events on the social and sporting calendar of Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita. Its evolution reflects the growth of a regatta that has successfully maintained its welcoming, participatory, and festive spirit.
In 2023, the inaugural edition attracted 11 yachts and was won by Nidea II, helmed by Aleix Truyols, followed by S’Indio III, skippered by Joan Lladó, and Beduino, sailed by Carlos Garau and Pere Pau Fullana. In 2024, participation increased to 14 yachts, with S’Indio III taking victory ahead of Peppa, helmed by Simon McGoldik, and Huayra, skippered by José Martín. The third edition, held in 2025, represented a significant step forward, attracting 24 yachts and 107 sailors, with Tris Tras, S’Indio III, and Nidea 2 claiming the overall podium positions. In 2026, S’Indio III once again added its name to the regatta’s list of winners.
The fourth edition also welcomed yachts from other clubs around Mallorca, whose crews enjoyed a full week of complimentary berthing at Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita. This benefit, which will also be available for the 2027 edition, allows participants to prepare for the race comfortably, enjoy the club atmosphere before and after the event, and reinforces the regatta’s open and inclusive character.
As has become tradition, the Passion for the Sea Trophy Regatta did not end at the finish line. Following the race, activities continued ashore with a post-regatta lunch attended by more than 80 people in the newly inaugurated social clubhouse of Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, a facility set to become one of the main gathering points of the club’s social life.
The event featured the traditional fideuà prepared by Toni Reta, followed by the prize-giving ceremony and a lively afternoon gathering among skippers, crews, club members, guests and friends. The regatta was supported by several Mallorcan companies, including Begudes Puig, Bodegas Suau, and Colonette, reflecting a strong commitment to local products. Begudes Puig supplied a wide range of soft drinks, Bodegas Suau contributed vermouth, gin, and Jungla rum—which were also presented as prizes and gifts—and Colonette added a refreshing touch with almond slushies and frozen pomada.
The awards ceremony maintained the relaxed, friendly, and festive spirit that characterizes this regatta. In addition to sporting awards for the top finishers, special recognitions were presented to Carlos Estellers “Patxi,” the event’s race officer, to Ane García as the youngest crew member, and to Bernardí Fiol as the most senior skipper in the fleet.
As a final highlight, Tucha, owned by Toni Busquets, a beautiful Sun 2500, also received an award. Although the yacht finished last overall, it fought hard until the very end and was presented with a humorous trophy, perfectly reflecting the fun, family-oriented atmosphere of an event where competition coexists with camaraderie and club spirit.
“This regatta was created with the idea of combining a day on the water with competition and a great atmosphere. We wanted it to be approachable, highly visible from shore, and above all an opportunity to bring together people who share a passion for sailing and the sea. Four editions later, seeing the fleet respond so positively and watching the event continue to grow is tremendously rewarding,” said Carlos Hellín, Director of Passion for the Sea and CEO of Nautimedia Comunicación.
Once again, the 4th Passion for the Sea Trophy Regatta brought together sailors from across Mallorca for a day in which the wind, the sea, the competition, and the desire to enjoy a great experience took center stage. It was one of those occasions when sailing, the sea, and club social life come together perfectly.
The organizers have already confirmed the date of the next edition. The 5th Passion for the Sea Trophy Regatta will be held on June 12th, 2027, once again in the waters of Sa Ràpita, with the aim of continuing to grow as a sporting, social, and festive event for the cruising fleet.
