The prestigious 40th Trofeo Príncipe de Asturias, held in the waters of Baiona (Galicia) and organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, has come to an end.

Representing the Federación Balear de Vela, the sailors achieved second place in a tight finish.
After the eight races held since Friday, September 5th, the women’s team from Club Náutico Ibiza reached their goal: to step onto the podium of this popular competition.
Wind and sea conditions varied during the event. On the first day, the wind blew at 7 to 8 knots, allowing the first two scoring races to take place. Saturday proved to be the toughest day of the trophy, with southwest winds of 17 to 24 knots challenging the fleet and three races completed that day.
On Sunday, the final day of racing, the Ibiza sailors started in fifth place. The wind was from the south at 7 to 9 knots. The Ibizan team improved steadily throughout the day to finish in a meritorious second place, with a total of 21 points.
The winners were the sailors from the Real Club Náutico La Coruña, led by Sofia Toro. Their boat, featuring two Olympic gold medalists from London, proved unbeatable, scoring 9 points and winning six of the eight races.
The third place went to the Tenerife team, captained by the experienced Alicia Cebrián, who finished with 22 points.
The team representing Club Náutico Ibiza had prepared meticulously for the occasion, training aboard the boat ‘El Gaitero espada 0’, kindly provided by Vicente Amengual and Alicia Magistris. The athletes were supported by the Consell Insular de Ibiza, Ayuntamiento de Ibiza, Can Fred, Náutica Ereso, and benefited from the invitation of the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, which ensured a first-class event featuring the best sailors in the country.
