Saura and Llopis are crowned winners of the Winter Series 3

Adverse weather conditions shaped a weekend in which only two races could be completed, while Jordi Triay and Lluís Mas remain overall leaders.

Winter Series 3 now has its winners. The Club Marítimo de Mahón duo Peter Saura and Borja Llopis claimed victory on Sunday, January 25th, in the third event of the Snipe competition organised by the Club Marítimo de Mahón. Saura and Llopis adapted best to conditions that only allowed two races to be sailed on Sunday, proving the most consistent pairing of the day.

The Mahón-based team secured the win thanks to a third and a second place finish in an area near the harbour entrance, with heavy seas and strong southwesterly winds. These results allowed them to top the standings with 77 points, followed closely by Damián Borrás and Cristian Vidal on 76 points, after winning the first race and finishing fifth in the second. Third place went to the Club Nàutic de Ciutadella pairing of Toni Pons and Sasha Pons, with a second and a fourth place.

As a result, Saura and Llopis closed the gap by five points on the current Winter Series leaders, Jordi Triay and Lluís Mas, who remain in first place overall with 538 points. Second overall are Peter Saura and Borja Llopis with 521 points, while the Club Marítimo de Mahón pair Marta Torner and Enrique Mir complete the provisional podium with 495 points. The fourth event of the series will take place over the weekend of February 7th and 8th.
