Sailors from the Balearic Islands shine at the Comunitat Valenciana Olympic Week

The 11th edition of the Comunitat Valenciana Olympic Week 2026 has began this weekend, from February 13th to the 15th, with the celebration of its first Youth section. The event has gathered 300 sailors distributed into three locations: the Real Club Náutico de Valencia, the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja and the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante.

In Valencia, meteorological conditions marked the development of the competition. It was not by third try, but it was by the fourth session when sailing was finally possible. Forecasts for the last session announced wind between 18 and 25 knots, with a shifting direction between 280º and 300º, conditions allowed completing four sessions.

With this, the club was able to crown the champions of the Olympic Week Comunitat Valenciana Youth in ILCA 4 class, in addition to defining the 29er class, in the mark of the 29er Eurocup.

In Torrevieja, where the Techno 293 and Young iQFoil classes, meteorology also took the spotlight. On Friday, with winds of NO to O between 12 and 15 knots and streaks that reached 31, the Committee made the session longer. On Saturday, with orange warning, it was not possible to compete. Finally, on Sunday sailors could go out by 11:00 a.m. with 12 intensity knots, though it was necessary to postpone it again. From 01:00 a.m., with stable wind between 12 and 15 knots, three more sessions were completed, reaching a total of six races.

It is important to point out the results of the Balearic sailors in the Techno 293 class. Mallorcan Biel Martorell, of the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa, was crowned champion of the U15 Techno Plus category, followed by Juan Bartolomé, representative of the Balearic Sailing Federation. In female category, Ana Villar, also from the Balearic Sailing Federation, was second.

On her behalf, in the U13 category of the same class, Maria Martorell, from CMSAP, was crowned champion, with Mariona Moragues, from Club Nàutic s’Arenal, in second place and Máximo Fuertes, of the Balearic Sailing Federation, completing the podium in third place.

In Alicante, no race could take place. Authorities amplified the orange warning to Sunday, with streaks that reached 27 knots, which did not allow developing competitions with normality.

The Comunitat Valenciana Olympic Week 2026 Youth has kicked off with international competition, demanding conditions and a very high level in its young fleets, confirming the sports level of this first phase of the event.
