212 sailors of 38 countries have competed for 6 days in Ireland for the Under21 World title of the ILCA 6 (female) and ILCA 7 (male) olympic classes. There have been 12 really harsh regattas in total: from extreme waves and 25-knot wind conditions the first and third day, to tiring six hour journeys in the water.
Mallorcan Karol Krupski capped off his outstanding performance at this World Championship with a silver medal, after starting in third place on the provisional podium. On the third day, he slipped down the standings, but his determination drove him to climb back up over the following days, moving up to fifth, then fourth, and finally, today, Friday, securing second place. Additionally, the young sailor from CV Puerto Andratx finished 15th overall, just one spot behind his teammate from the RFEV’s 2032 team, Fernando Abella, who placed 14th.
Meanwhile, Marga Perelló (CN Sa Ràpita) and Adriana Castro (RCN Torrevieja), who finished among the top ten in Europe just over ten days ago, have confirmed their international progress with a world Top 10 finish — eighth and 10th, respectively. Their teammates Irene de Tomás and María Gornés closed the championship in 29th and 32nd positions, respectively.
