The Council of Mallorca has presented the new sports activity proposals under “Viu en jove!”, which will reach 4,000 participants. This initiative will allow group activities to be carried out throughout the year across four areas: sea, mountain, health and youth stands.

The proposal is aimed at young people aged 16 and over and includes activities traditionally requested by local councils, such as canoeing, dragon boating and paddle surfing. It also introduces new activities with a strong adventure component: diving, excursions through the Torrent de Pareis, climbs to Mallorca’s peaks, mountain bike routes, coasteering, horse-riding outings and sailing. The programme also offers healthy workshops on nutrition, hydration and food labelling.

Likewise, the Council’s agreement with the island’s 14 elite sports clubs to promote values will make it possible to offer the “Grada jove” activity: free attendance at official matches of Mallorca’s first teams competing in the top category.

Today, the Second Vice-President and Councillor for the Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports, Pedro Bestard, accompanied by the Island Director for Sports, Toni Prats, presented the new proposal at a very special event, together with three Mallorcan influencer profiles who give a face to the campaign promoting the activities: sports video creator Marc Chabe, and popular DJs Anto Cabanellas and Biel Castell.

Bestard stated that “at the Consell, we are pleased to be able to offer active proposals for the different youth stages as a sporting, healthy and fun alternative, at no cost. It is an invitation to rediscover Mallorca.” He added that “the Consell will invest 250,000 euros in the sports proposals of ‘Viu en jove!’, which will reach youth centres, associations and the wider youth network.” The councillor also noted that “the aim is to expand the existing offer through new experiences that build community and allow young people to connect with the environment.”
