Registrations open for the 5th World Watersports Photography Championship

The Water Sports Plastic Free Foundation has officially launched a new edition of the Ocean Power Watersports Photography Awards, following a record-breaking year in terms of international participation.

This global competition invites both professional and amateur photographers to capture the essence of watersports through talent and creativity. Submissions are now open and will be accepted until October 19th, 2025.

Following a landmark edition that brought together a curated selection of nearly 500 images from 27 countries across five continents, the Ocean Power Watersports Photography Awards (Ocean Power WPA) have firmly established themselves as the world’s leading contest in their field. This year, the competition takes a bold step into the future with the introduction of a new video category—laying the groundwork for its evolution into an international festival of photography, film, and visual arts centered around water.

Now in its fifth edition, the Ocean Power WPA welcomes entries via its official website. Participation remains free under the basic entry plan, while three optional upgraded plans have been introduced, offering additional benefits and exclusive opportunities for contestants seeking exclusive advantages.

With a steadily growing community and increasing international reach, the Ocean Power WPA prepares to unveil a new host city for its upcoming awards gala—one that will mark the next chapter in the contest’s evolution as a global meeting point for photography, sport, and ocean culture.

The most recent edition of the gala brought together over 250 attendees and culminated in a large-scale public exhibition, showcasing the winning images for three months in prints up to 4x4 meters. The exhibition became the world’s largest outdoor watersports photography showcase, transforming public space into a global gallery and bringing the sea, sport, and visual art closer to thousands of people.

The Ocean Power WPA are powered by the Water Sports Plastic Free Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of the oceans. With its support, the contest reinforces its environmental mission—using the power of photography to spark awareness and promote a more sustainable future for the seas and the coastal communities that depend on them.
