The wind vane initially pointed at 60 degrees and ended at 220, a circumstance that required additional effort from the Race Committee and the participating crews to complete the scheduled program.
The Committee managed to give 24 starts: five for each of the 420 and 29er classes, three for ILCA 4 and ILCA 6, and four for the senior categories, Snipe and OK Dinghy. The races held brought the competition to a close, which had begun the previous week with the Optimist regatta and gathered a total of 240 boats across all classes.
The winners of this second phase were Juan Burguera (CN Sa Ràpita) in ILCA 4 Under 16 male, and Marianna Orduña (CN Cala Gamba) in female; Marc Femenías (CN Cala Gamba) in ILCA 4 Under 18 male, and Marina Garau (CN Arenal) in female; Toni Truyols (CN Sa Ràpita) in ILCA 6 male, and Mónica Osha (Real Club Náutico de Palma) in female; Tom Bayliss (Hayling Island Sailing Club) in OK Dinghy; the crew formed by Francisco Truyols and Pablo Romero (Real Club Náutico de Palma) in 29er; Hugo Rodríguez (CN Arenal) and Diego Coronado (CM San Antonio de la Playa) in 420 male, and Neus Fernández and Martina Gomila (CN Arenal) in 420 female; and Francesc Terrasa (CN Ibiza) and Fernando Velarde (RCN Palma) in Snipe.
The prize-giving ceremony was held at the end of the regatta in the Sala Magna of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, with the presence of Elena Sanz, representing Pro-Rigging; Jorge Forteza, commodore of the organizing club; and Cati Darder, president of the Balearic Sailing Federation.
Pedro Marí, technical sailing director of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, highlighted the high level of participation and the “magnificent work” of the Race Committee, especially on the closing day. Tom Bayliss, winner in OK Dinghy, took the floor during the prize-giving ceremony to congratulate the organization for having assembled a fleet of 16 boats in this class and for the conduct of the races at sea.
The Pro-Rigging Regatta is part of the dinghy sailing event program of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, alongside the Regata Audax and the Trofeo Abanca Ciutat de Palma. Sailors from all over the Balearic Islands take part in it. This year, the RCNP opted to divide the competition over two weekends, separating the Optimist class from the remaining classes, in order to provide better service to crews and make better use of the spaces available at the club.
