This year, the Government of the Balearic Islands has opened raor fishing 24 hours earlier, so it will kick off on Sunday, August 31st, 2025. From that date onward, this species’s fand will be able to go fishing as long as they comply with the current normative in the different marine reserves of the islands.

In the Reserve of Migjorn and Palma’s bay, it has been established that the fishhooks for the raor fishing must have a minimum of 5,7 mm of interior width. During the active period, these fishhooks can also be used to capture other species typically found in sandy seafloors.
Lastly, in the Reserve of Llevant of Mallorca, the minimum measures for the fishhooks of raor must be of 5,7 mm of width. These fishhooks will be able to be used too, during the active period of raor fishing, to capture other species typically found in sandy seafloors. In addition, it is established for all the modalities of recreational fishing, except the raor, that the minimum size of the fishhook must be of 7 mm. Regarding bottom fishing, with moored boats or in depths superior to 35 metres, the minimum size must be of 8,5 mm of width.
