Rafa Nadal adds a new title to his sporting success, this time on water

Team Rafa has signed an exceptional season at the 2025 E1 Series, the world champs of electrical speedboats knows as the "sea Formula 1", by being crowned as runner-ups of the world after an exciting final that took place last Saturday, November 8th, in Miami.

The team, owned by the ex-tennis player Rafa Nadal and led by Spanish Cris Lazarraga and French Tom Chiappe, fought until the last moment for the title against the powerful Team Brady, which finally revalidated their crown on their second consecutive year.

After arriving to Miami, just two points behind the leadership, Team Rafa swayed at the qualifying session, reducing the leader's advantage and keeping alive the emotion until the last race. 

“I'd lie if I said I feel no pressure now,” declared Tom Chiappe before the final race. “There's a lot of pressure until the end. Team Brady has achieved a good result, and so have we. So now there's just the final race. We will try and make this a fair race and we will be as competitive as we can.”

In the great final, Lazarraga did a spectacular comeback after a complicated start, taking advantage of a risky strategy with the short trace to recover positions and placing ahead. The Madrid-based driver showed strength and bravery before the pressure of her rivals, crossing the finish line in second place, in front of the Team Blue Rising. Her teammate, Chiappe, kept the team's high level, signing another second place that ensured the world's runner-up title for Nadal's team.

The result conffirms Team Rafa as one of the great revelations of the championship and as a referent of the new electrical speedboating era, a sport that combines speed, technology and sustainable innovation. With their consistency and performance throughout the seven carried out races, in four continents, the team has shown that they can compete face to face with the leaders of the category.

The 2025 E1 Series have have finihsed with a vibrant final that reaffirms the worlwide growth of the championship, followed by millions of spectators in over 140 countries. After the closure of the season, Team Rafa is already set on 2026 with a clear goal: fighting again for the title.
