During the visit, Lafuente was able to learn first-hand about the new stage beginning at the port following the incorporation of Marina Port Andratx as the new concession holder for the facilities, as well as the agreement reached with the Sailing Club to ensure the continuity of the sporting and training activities that the organisation has been carrying out for decades.
In this context, PortsIB, the public body attached to the Regional Ministry for the Sea and the Water Cycle, has formalised a temporary authorisation in favour of the Port d’Andratx Sailing Club for the use of different port spaces and infrastructure. The authorisation includes 114 buoys, two floating pontoons, a smaller outer pontoon and an office located in a space owned by PortsIB. The duration of the authorisation ranges from one to four years, depending on the different authorised elements.
The regional minister highlighted the importance of ensuring that the port continues to be a benchmark space for nautical sports and for the training of new generations of sailors. In this regard, he positively valued the collaboration between the new concession holder and the Sailing Club, which will allow an activity closely linked to the maritime identity of Port d’Andratx to continue.
The visit also served to learn more about the new stage of Marina Port Andratx, which is taking over the management of facilities whose concession has been marked for more than two decades by various administrative and judicial proceedings. This handover brings to an end a lengthy process that began after the expiry of the previous concession and culminated with the incorporation of the new concession holder.
Marina Port Andratx is now joining the network of marinas managed by IPM Group, a group with a strong presence in the Balearic Islands, which has expressed its commitment to maintaining nautical activity, strengthening port services and continuing to promote the port’s role as a point of reference for sailing and sea sports.
One of the most relevant aspects of this new stage is the agreement reached between Marina Port Andratx and the Port d’Andratx Sailing Club, allowing the organisation to continue carrying out its activities from the facilities of the new concession holder. Thanks to this collaboration, the Sailing Club will continue to organise its summer schools, sailing courses, training activities and sports programmes, guaranteeing the continuity of work that for years has helped bring the sea and nautical sports closer to hundreds of children and young people.
Representatives of the Regional Ministry valued this understanding as a formula that makes it possible to combine the new management of the concession with the continuity of a sporting and social activity deeply rooted in the municipality, helping to strengthen the nautical and sporting character of Port d’Andratx.
