PortsIB reinforces the protection of the ports of Mallorca and Menorca

The contracted services include access controls and safety rounds, prevention of vandal acts and the assistance of the users of the ports during the functioning schedule.

Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB), belonging to the Sea and Water Cycle Counselling, has adjudicated the contracts of safety and vigilance service in the ports of direct management of Mallorca and Menorca, with the objective of reinforcing the protection of the portuary facilities and guaranteeing a constant attention service to the users and boats. Altogether, the adjudications add an investment of 1’82 millions of euros (VAT included) and will last a year, six months and fifteen days. 

In the island of Mallorca, the contract has been adjudicated to the company Seguridad, S.A., by a simple import of 801.502,10 euros (VAT included). In Menorca, the adjudication is Transportes Blindados, S.A., with a budget of 1.020.809,41 euros (VAT included). Both licitations have been processed through procedures based on the Mark Accord CC 2/2022 AM, with charge on the budgets of Ports de les Illes Balears.

The contracted services include vigilance and custody of portuary facilities, access controls and security rounds, prevention of vandal acts or intrusions, collaboration with competent authorities during the functioning schedule. Complementary management services and security teams installed in docks and portuary buildings are also programmed. 

During the process of both reports, valoration criteria expected in the administrative clauses has been followed, which contemplate the economic offer, organization and planification of the service, staff training in customer service and languages, the capacity of answer before incidents or unexpected situations. 

The adjudications guarantee the continuity of the safety service in all the direct management ports of the public entity and its adaptation to the current necessities of every installation, reinforcing the coordination with the new Control Centre of PortsIB, since where they supervise portuary works, the coast’s cleaning, buoys camps and other services related to maritime safety.

With this measure, Ports de les Illes Balears is consolidated as an integral management model that combines the portuary space protection, the attention to the user, technological updating, in line with the objectives of constant improvement in matters of efficiency and safety established by the entity.
