YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The portuary installation, managed by Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) in Sant Antoni has been the scene for a protection and security practical activity, in collaboration with GEDEX-NQRB Guardia Civil teams from Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, and with the participation of the ‘Chenega’ ship, from the company Trasmapi. This practice allowed to test said protocols against threats in an operational port environment.
This drill, written on the Instruction Permanent Plans of the Balearic Guardia Civil department, included the simulation of two threats: the location and neutralization of an explosive device on the deck’s terminal and another one inside the ‘Chenega’ vessel, moored at the port.
The performance has enabled the rehearsal of key procedures, such as the emergency management, the vesell’s and installations evacuation, the coordination between port operatives and the stablishment of the advanced command post.
During the exercise’s development, two last-generation deactivation robots have been used: ‘AUNAV-NeoHD and Mini-CALIBER. These devices have been tested in various complex scenarios, including confined spaces such as the interior of a bus positioned in the boarding zone. The objective was to evaluate its capacities in real operative conditions and to take their acting limits to the max.
Apart from the threat deactivation, the journey worked to verify the communication cannals efficiency, the security perimetres establishment, the meeting points for staff and passengers and the compliance with protection declaration protocols. The PortsIB commitment was fundamental, both in coordination and logistics of the activity, enabling the terminal’s full use and the comercial deck for the practice development.
This teamwork journey was possitively evaluated by PortsIB, who supports the Illes Balears port structures security and improves the operative preparation from all of the actors implied in the management of emergency situations.
