This new gathering has been created to celebrate Mallorca’s seafaring tradition and bring the island’s maritime heritage closer to the public. It also aims to establish itself as a leading event within the circuit of gatherings dedicated to classic sailing.

More than a concentration of boats, the initiative seeks to become a celebration of Sóller’s maritime memory: a tribute to a community that, for centuries, found in the sea its main link with the outside world and built much of its identity through fishing, trade, migration and shipbuilding.

Over three days, the participating boats will take part in a range of activities in the Bay of Sóller, including a joint sailing excursion around sa Illeta and along the coast of Deià, as well as public visits, cultural tours and activities linked to the Museu de la Mar.

The choice of Port de Sóller as the venue for this first edition is no coincidence. Regarded as the only natural harbour in the Serra de Tramuntana, for centuries it served as the departure point for local products bound for France, North Africa and the Americas. Against this backdrop, the initiative enjoys strong institutional support and is jointly promoted by the Consell de Mallorca, the Museu Marítim de Mallorca, the Museu de la Mar de Sóller, the Directorate-General for Culture of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Sóller Town Council and the nautical project associated with Le Temps Perdu.

With this first edition, Port de Sóller is taking a significant step forward in championing its seafaring legacy and opening a new chapter in the recovery, preservation and sharing of a fundamental part of the island’s history.

One of the main attractions of this inaugural edition will be the presence of “Le Temps Perdu”, a boat currently enjoying one of the finest periods in its history. The yacht, an elegant 40-foot wooden gaff cutter built between 1964 and 1966 at the French Servain Shipyard, has just been crowned winner of the Época Cangreja category at the 19th Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona.

The victory also saw Le Temps Perdu successfully defend the title it won the previous season, consolidating its position as one of the leading names in classic sailing today.

Its participation gives the Sóller gathering a dimension that extends beyond the local sphere and places this first edition on the radar of classic sailing enthusiasts, boat owners and maritime heritage specialists throughout Spain.
