Port Adriano and Puerto Portals, among Spain’s most influential marinas on social media

Port Adriano and Puerto Portals, among Spain’s most influential marinas on social media

8th July 2026 by Agencies

The Observatory of Marinas and Ports has prepared a new report on the digital presence and influence of Spain’s main sports harbours, marinas and yacht clubs, using their Facebook and Instagram communities as a reference.

The study updates and expands the article published by PuertosDeportivos.info on August 7th, 2023, under the title “Ranking of the 10 most influencer Spanish sports harbours”, which offered an initial overview of the social visibility of Spain’s nautical-sports facilities.

In this new review, the analysis has been expanded to a national top 20 and updates the available data as of July 2nd to 4th, 2026, using as its main criterion the combined total of Facebook followers or likes and Instagram followers.

The ranking places Port Adriano as the Spanish nautical facility with the largest combined community on these two social networks, with a total of 100,627 followers. It is followed by Puerto Banús, with 84,533 followers, and Puerto Portals, with 53,125 followers.

The top three positions reflect the importance of marinas with a strong tourism, commercial and aspirational component, especially those linked to the premium segment, the Mediterranean lifestyle, large yachts, restaurants, events and international projection.

To provide further information, two reference documents are available: the Summary Report, which offers a concise overview of the main aspects, and the Full Report, which develops the full set of data, analysis and conclusions of the study in greater detail.

The report shows that the digital influence of Spain’s nautical-sports sector does not depend solely on the number of berths or the physical size of each facility. Other factors also play a role, such as tourist location, brand recognition, sporting activity, the ability to generate visual content, the events calendar, the relationship with the destination and the digital communication strategy.

Several Balearic facilities stand out in the top positions, including Port Adriano, Puerto Portals, Real Club Náutico de Palma, Marina Ibiza and Marina Santa Eulalia. Ports and marinas in Andalusia also have a strong presence, such as Puerto Banús, Puerto Deportivo de Benalmádena, Puerto Sotogrande and Real Club Mediterráneo de Málaga.

Catalonia is represented by facilities such as Marina Port Vell Barcelona, Real Club Nàutic de Barcelona, Club Nàutic El Balís, Port Ginesta and Port Olímpic Barcelona, while the Valencian Community, Murcia and the Canary Islands also have facilities within the top 20.

One of the notable findings of the report is the entry of Puerto Sotogrande into the national top 10, with 14,590 followers accumulated between Facebook and Instagram. The Cádiz-based facility ranks ninth, ahead of other clubs and facilities with a long-standing social and sporting history.

The report confirms that Instagram has become an especially relevant network for the nautical-sports sector, due to the strong visual component of marinas, sports harbours, events, boats, gastronomy, tourism and the lifestyle associated with the sea.

Facilities such as Puerto Banús, Marina Port Vell Barcelona, Puerto Portals, Port Olímpic Barcelona, Marina Santa Eulalia and Real Club Náutico de Tenerife concentrate a large part of their digital community on Instagram.

By contrast, other ports and marinas maintain a stronger base on Facebook, such as Port Adriano, Marina Dénia, Puerto Sotogrande and Puerto Deportivo Tomás Maestre, reflecting a more established community in profiles of an informational, local, institutional or territorial nature.

The Observatory of Marinas and Ports stresses that this ranking should not be interpreted as an absolute measure of reputation, communication quality or institutional influence, but rather as a comparative snapshot of the public community accumulated on two of the social networks most widely used by the sector.

The number of followers alone does not measure real interaction, organic reach, content quality, commercial conversion or brand reputation. To do so, other indicators would need to be incorporated, such as engagement rate, posting frequency, average reach, interaction per post, website traffic generated or advertising investment.

Nevertheless, the ranking makes it possible to identify which facilities have built the largest social communities, which networks carry the greatest weight in each case, and which digital communication models show the greatest capacity for public projection.
