The Minister of Enterprise, Employment, and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, presented the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award this morning to businessman Toni Salom in recognition of his work at the helm of the Balearic Marine Cluster. Salom has served as president of the organization since its founding in 2019 until 2025, when he stepped aside for a newly appointed board of directors.

Over these years, the nautical industry association has grown from a founding group of around twenty companies to now include one hundred member organizations, employing more than 1,200 people and generating over 400 million euros in revenue. The cluster, originally created to position the Balearic Islands as a leading international hub in the nautical sector, has—under Toni Salom’s leadership—become one of the industry's key players.
The minister expressed gratitude “for Toni Salom’s great dedication and leadership of the cluster, as well as his willingness to collaborate with the public sector, which has made many projects possible, such as the Balearic Superyacht Forum organized by the cluster with sponsorship from ADRBalears.”
In addition to leading the cluster for seven years, Toni Salom is the owner of Nautipaints, an international nautical services company that began in 1971 as Nauti-Pesca Can Miquel. It has since evolved to include two interconnected areas of activity: Nautipaints, specializing in yacht and superyacht painting and maintenance, and Nautichandler, which supplies accessories and consumables for boats of any size. As a third-generation family business, Nautipaints has developed a corporate culture centered on specialization, innovation, and high-quality standards, making it a benchmark in the nautical industry.
It’s worth noting that the Marcial Sánchez Barcáiztegui Award is presented annually at PIBS to honor companies, entities, or individuals who have contributed to the growth of the nautical sector. The ceremony, held at the El Moll Vell exhibition grounds, was attended by Silvia Delgado, Managing Director of the Balearic Islands Regional Development Agency; Guillermo García, current president of the Balearic Marine Cluster; and the cluster’s manager, Pedro Suasi.
The Palma International Boat Show, organized by the Ministry of Enterprise, Employment, and Energy through ADRBalears and BYBA, remains open to visitors at El Moll Vell until tomorrow, Friday, May 3.
