The Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta reaches its fifth edition with an exponential growth. In its first edition, celebrated five years ago, four boats participated; this year, the entries list goes up to 22 superyachts, accompanied by an interesting waiting list, which reflects the consolidation of the event in the international nautical calendar of the Mediterranean.

The date, which will be celebrated from September 18th to 21st, puts the focus once again in Ibiza as the premium nautical destiny. The island as well as its city position themselves as an integral enclave for sea and nautical sports lovers. The combination of its natural landscapes, historical patrimony, gastronomic offer and cosmopolitan ambience turn Ibiza into a unique place in the Mediterranean.
Marina Ibiza, placed in the heart of the city, gives first level facilities and exclusive services, easing a complete and high quality experience for participants and visitors.
Institutional support of Ibiza’s Council and Insular Council of Ibiza is fundamental for the continuity and growth of the Ibiza JoySail. Thanks to this sponsor, the event does not only promote sporting excellence, but also contributes actively to touristic and economic projection of the island, reinforcing its international position as a reference destination.
One of the most awaited moments of every edition is the Perpetuo Trophy, the timed challenge that confronts the participating superyachts in a high level crossing between Mallorca and Ibiza. The objective: crossing 48 nautical miles that separate Punta Cala Figuera (Mallorca) and Tagomago’s island (Ibiza) in the least time possible. Velocity, strategy and good wind conditions turn into the key ingredients to conquer this challenge, which is already a classic inside the Ibiza JoySail.
The challenge will open officially on August 16th to September 16th, and even though it’s still not active, expectation can be already met. Currently, the record is held by ‘Maximus’, who completed the challenge in the last edition in 3 hours and 31 minutes. A difficult time to surpass, but not impossible.
This year, the ‘Maximus’ will not compete, but other veteran boats such as the ‘Gellicaux’ or the ‘Aurelius’ have already shown interest in trying it, keeping the competitive spirit of this emblematic trophy alive.
The fifth edition of the Ibiza JoySail promises marking a new benchmark in the history of the regatta: more boats, more level and more motion in one of the most awaited dates of the final of summer.
