Last weekend, Menorca turned into the scenary for the Federation Cup of the Optimist class, a regatta that had the participation of 82 sailors. The regatta, organized by the Club Nàutic Ciutadella under the delegation of the Balearic Sailing Federation, kicked off with a difficult beginninf due to the weather.

The second place was for Luca Nueschen Bardavio, also from the CNA, with 17 points, while the third place was for Jan Palou Espinar, from the Real Club Náutico de Palma, with 20 points.
Participants were waiting for two sessions for the wind and the intense waves to let them start the competition with safe conditions for young athletes.
Finally, on Sunday November 23rd, with more stable east winds and negotiable waves, four very demanding races could be carried out, in which the 82 selected sailors fought for a Cup that, alongside the Illes Balears Trophy and the Balearics's Championship, is determinating to define who represents the Balearics in the next Spain's Championship.
Oliver Iglesias, sailor from the Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx accompanied by her coach Ana Musatova, competed firmly during the whole session and achieved a podium in the last race. In the overall qualifying, he closed his participation with an 11th place in the U16 male category.
