YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The towns of Salou and Santa Ponça will once again be united this year through the Regata Rei en Jaume, which will take place from September 10 to 12. Now in its 39th edition, the race is organized by the Club Náutico de Santa Ponça and the Club Nàutic Salou (CNS), with sponsorship from the municipalities of Calvià and Salou.
The 110-mile crossing recreates the route taken by Jaume I in 1229, landing first on the island of Pantaleu before reaching the Mallorcan coast to begin the conquest.
The Regata Rei en Jaume was officially presented today, Friday, May 2, at the Palma International Boat Show, with the attendance of the mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual; Calvià’s Councilor for Economy, Procurement, and Sports, Javier Tascón; president of Club Náutico de Santa Ponça, Luis Nigorra; Port Adriano’s commercial director, Nani Mas; and the director of the Regata Rei en Jaume, Manuel Nadal de Uhler.
Also present were Silvia Delgado, general manager of ADR Balears (Regional Development Agency of the Balearic Islands), and Chema Sans, director of the Palma International Boat Show.
The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, highlighted that the Regata Rei en Jaume is "a sporting, social, and cultural event that commemorates the journey made by King Jaume I, the Conqueror, to begin the reconquest of the island. It is part of the Rei en Jaume festival celebrations, and we hope for strong participation because it’s a beautiful regatta that also features social events, a dinner in Salou, and an awards ceremony that make it very special for everyone."
The president of CN Santa Ponça, Luis Nigorra, encouraged participation in the regatta—one of the oldest in the Balearic calendar—and thanked "our sister club in Salou, with whom we’ve been collaborating on this regatta for 39 years; the mayor of Calvià, as public/private collaboration helps provide stability; and all sponsors and partners, especially Port Adriano and Port Tarraco."
This race is one of five events in the Ausmar Offshore Regatta Circuit (which includes the Ruta de la Sal Rumbo Ibiza, Ruta de la Tramuntana, Bahía de Pollença Regatta, and Golden Cup Badalona), and organizers expect a strong turnout.
The regatta, which aims to reflect historical events as closely as possible, will start in front of Club Náutico Salou, with the finish line set between Dragonera Island and the coast of Sant Elm.
In this 39th edition, the fleet will consist of boats with ORC certificates, Classics, A2, and Solo categories. Results will be ranked by class and group, and clubs will also be able to compete in a team ranking, composed of one boat under 50 feet and one over 50 feet.
The regatta's sporting program will begin on Wednesday, September 10, with a skippers’ briefing and a welcome dinner for participants at CN Salou. On Thursday, September 11, the competing boats will gather in the bay of the Catalan town, from where the race is scheduled to start. The awards ceremony will take place on September 12 at Port Adriano.
The Regata Rei en Jaume is organized by Club Náutico de Santa Ponça and Club Nàutic Salou (CNS), with sponsorship from the Calvià and Salou Town Councils.
