This important test of the national calendar for the promotion categories gathered over 400 canoeists who belong to 52 clubs of the national territory and some clubs of the other countries. CNSA’s representatives, used to paddling in test tracks in calm waters, showed that they can also defend themselves perfectly in a test of these characteristics, with water flows, tides and little depth.
Both K2 Youth Women A boats from CNSA dominated the test, crossing the finish line in first place, under the bridge of Ribadesella, Lara Ribas and Gabriela Mendes, who registered a time of 17' 36". This way, they imposed themselves in front of their peers, Júlia Roselló and Odalis Posado (17' 51"), whom they overpassed in less than 500 metres for the finish line, after having led the test since the departure. Asturian Martina Roces and Alba Menéndez finished 3rd, from Club Náutico Ensidesa (19' 00").
The other boat from CNSA, formed by Liam López and Laura Rubio, achieved the third position in K2 Youth Mixed (20' 31"), test in which locals of Club Piragüismo el Sella Ángela Barrio and Andrés Quesada (17' 12") won. In second place Malena Marcos and Diego Pica, from Madrid, classified, from Club Escuela Piragüismo Aranjuez (19' 36").
The members of the Canoeing Tracking Program of Ibiza (Lara Ribas, Gabriela Mendes, Odalis Posado and Laura Rubio), in addition to taking part in this competition, were carrying out during the week some training sessions in the olympic track of Trasona’s dam, usual training place for the national Spanish team. These training sessions form part of their preparation facing Spain’s Sprint Championship by Autonomic Selections, which will be contested in the Castelldefels Olympic Channel from September 13th to 14th, and for which the Balearic Canoeing Federation has already been summoned.
