Additionally, several inter-island routes combine regular services between the Pityusic Islands or connect various points along the Mallorcan coastline.
Services are provided using various types of vessels, ranging from catamarans to sightseeing boats ("golondrinas") or larger capacity ships, and operate in specific areas along regulated and authorized routes designated by the competent authorities. This ensures an activity that is compatible with the protection of the natural environment.
Among the companies with the highest number of registered vessels are Creuers Illa Balear, Armadores de Peguera, Bennassar Naviliers, Sercomisa, Tramontana SL, and Cruceros Costa de Calvià, all of which maintain a continuous presence on the main tourist routes of the archipelago. Also listed are smaller operators with significant services in ecologically sensitive areas, such as Excursions a Cabrera, Sa Calma Boats, and Transportes Marítimos Puerto de Sóller.
The register, managed by the Directorate-General of Ports and Maritime Transport of the Government of the Balearic Islands, is a tool for control, regulation, and transparency. It ensures that activities are carried out with full legal and safety guarantees. Additionally, it facilitates coordination with inspection bodies and monitoring of the economic activity related to recreational maritime transport, especially during the high season.
The Balearic Register of Shipowners is published periodically and can be consulted by any citizen or interested entity.
