Over 30 boats compete in the third race of the Two Seasons League

The Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx hosted the final Cruiser-class regatta of the year in a distinctly festive, Christmas atmosphere, blending sporting tradition with the sparkle of the holiday season. As the town glowed with festive lights and poinsettias painted the streets red, the spotlight at sea fell on a high-level fleet competing in the third race of the Two Seasons League.

The event brought together more than thirty boats and featured sailors of Olympic caliber such as Jesper Bank, bronze medalist in Seoul and gold medalist in both Barcelona and Sydney in the Soling class, José Luis “Pepote” Ballester, Olympic gold medalist in the Tornado class at the Atlanta Games, and Pachi Rivero, widely regarded as one of Spain’s finest bowmen. All shared the starting line in the waters off Andratx.

The race was sailed over a 10.6-nautical-mile course common to all classes, starting from Puerto Andratx and sailing out-and-back toward the Bay of Santa Ponsa. The course left Cape La Mola, Cape Llamp, Cape Andritxol, and the Malgrats archipelago to port, rounding near the beach before heading back. Weather conditions featured gusty but manageable easterly winds under a gray, shifting sky, alternating moments of looming bad weather with brief spells of sunshine.

The result was a demanding, tactical, and fast-paced race that tested crew skill across both categories. In ORC 0–4, the podium was led by Just the Job, sailed by Scott Beattie, followed by Settebello (Luca Monzani) and Bip Bip. In ORC 5, the top finishers were Tentol, skippered by Pau Herrera, followed by Calm Days (Luís Portella), with Sargay completing the podium.

As night fell and the fleet returned to port, the festive spirit once again took over Puerto Andratx, illuminating shop windows, homes, streets, and churches during the long Advent nights. In this way, the Puerto Andratx Sailing Club brought its 2025 sporting calendar to a close, combining competition, tradition, and Christmas spirit in a regatta that fittingly marked the end of the nautical year.
